Issue Analysis Paper

Outline
The statement reveals how educational institutions can influence students when deciding the field of study they wish to pursue. On the one hand, there are reasons to support this idea because educational institutions have years of experience and can accurately determine a student’s abilities to- or not to pursue a specific course. Further, the scientific approach to decision making via a proven assessment procedure is perfect when implemented to benefit the learner. On the other hand, these institutions may discourage learners from taking up courses or subjects they are passionate about and which they can succeed. Success in a particular is determined by an individual’s desires and passion, and not what others say or think about his or her abilities.

As institutions attempt to enhance their student’s performance standards, they should focus on guiding students to excel in the fields of their choices, rather than subjecting students to what they think is good for them. Forcing students to do what schools want gives pressure to students to rebel. The fact that they can get discouraged and frustrated in taking up a course they don’t like makes them rebellious against the system. Ideally, it can be perceived as a form of slavery and may receive intense opposition from the subjects (students). Therefore, it is unacceptable for schools to discourage students from pursuing courses that they imagine learners are unlikely to succeed without considering talents. By allowing learners to make choices of their own, they will have to be accountable for the decisions they make. They are also likely to work harder in a field that they treasure so much, rather than the one that they have been compelled to pursue.

Introduction
Are educational institutions justified to dissuade students from pursuing fields of study in which they are unlikely to succeed? Well, there are reasons to support and against this idea. The arguments are intended to outline the way both learners and institutions can effectively cooperate for the common good of the student. Enabling students to identify and pursue a field of study that they are likely to succeed is okay, but it is even better if they are allowed to make personal choices about their preferred courses without interferences from the school.

Analysis of the Issue
In most cases, educational facilities may have invented a state of the art assessment procedures or methods to determine a student’s ability in a given subject. The findings from these assessments could then be used to determine whether a student can succeed or not in the field they want to pursue. If there is a determination that a student does not fulfil the required set of skills to excel in that field, they are dissuaded from pursuing it. In the end, the learner’s career is shaped as per his or her abilities or talent. On the contrary, the school’s primary focus should not base on whether a student is likely to succeed in a given field or not. But to provide sufficient information for the student to make personal choices based on their interests and ambitions. Apple’s founder, Michael Jacobs, for instance, did not take anyone’s advice regarding the path he chose. He dropped out of college after completing the first year to pursue a specific area that he wanted. Although Michael Jacob was discouraged by his professors against taking on what he truly believed in, he chose to ignore them and continued to chart his own course. Today, Apple is one of the leading brands in mobile and computer systems and software development.

The burning desire to achieve a specific objective is one of the greatest gifts that the creator granted humankind, and therefore, it’s essential to give each one of us the ability to explore the inner talents and abilities. Hence, it is imperative to note that allowing students to pursue a field of their choices gives them the freedom to access their inner faculties, including willpower and intuition, which are the ideal ingredients for creativity. Therefore, while discouraging students from taking a field of their choice blocks and impedes their creative abilities, allowing them to do what they desire opens up their brains to exciting ideas and inventions. The human brain has been proven to achieve greater success by allowing individuals to think and make decisions for themselves, rather than allowing other people to decide for them.

Conclusion
Considering the negative outcomes of not allowing students to make personal choices on their desired fields of study, I’m, therefore, advocating for educational institutions to stop persuading students not to pursue fields of study in which they are unlikely to succeed. Further, students are more likely to excel in a subject they are passionate about rather than the one that they are compelled to pursue. Nonetheless, it is crucial to dissuade a student from pursuing a field of study that he or she is likely to fail, but it is even better to allow the student make personal choices about the course they would like to pursue. Furthermore, allowing students to choose their own fields of study empowers them to invest in their education more passionately, rather than feeling compelled to pay for research paper services in subjects they have no interest in pursuing.
