How to write a Book Review

For writing a book review, you have to see the title that is given to the book, and then you will read the book and will find the reason why that title is given to that book. In your book review, first you will give a title that should be suitable for the review. Secondly, you will introduce the text of the book in as less words as you can and will also try to answer the following question:

  • Why I am reading this book?

  • After introducing the text of the book, the next step comes that is reporting the content. This part is slightly larger than the introduction as it will contain your extracted summarized information that you have gained from the book reading activity. Before coming to this step, you can also make a list of important points or information that you have noticed while reading the book. For every separate chapter, you will write separately and informatively. You will include only those aspects and points that are most relevant and significant. For this step, the following questions can be asked:

  • What is the author trying to do in this writing?

  • What is the author saying that's relevant to what I want to find out?

  • After the reporting part, the evaluation part comes. The reviewer has to evaluate the content of the book. In this part, the reviewer will judge that whatever the writer or author has said, is persuasive and believable or not. For this part, the reviewer will ask the following question:

  • How convincing is what the author is saying?

  • The final step deals with the conclusion part. The reviewer will draw his/her conclusion to whatever he/she has evaluated by going through all the steps mentioned above. For the part of conclusion, the following question can be asked:

  • In conclusion, what use can I make of this book which I have read?
  • If you are going to follow the above structuring for review writing, your book review will be of good quality as you have structured in chunks.
