Blaise Pascal Essay

This is an example essay on Blaise Pascal:
Blaise Pascal was born June 19, 1623 in Clermont Auvergne, France. He was the third of Etienne Pascal’s kids and his only son. Pascal’s mother died when he was only three years old. In 1632 the Pascal family, Etienne and his four kids, left Clermont and settled in Paris. Pascal’s father had decided to educate his son on his own. For some stupid reason Etienne decided that Blaise was not to study mathematics before the age of 15 and all mathematics texts were removed from their house. But Pascal being like “Curious George” he started to work on geometry at the age of 12. He discovered that the sum of the angles of a triangle are two right angles and, when his father found out, he changed his mind and gave Blaise a copy of Euclid. In December 1639 the Pascal family moved to Rouen, where Etienne had been hired as a tax collector for Upper Normandy. (more…)

Astronomy and Astrology Essay

This is a sample essay on Comparison and Contrast of Astronomy and Astrology:
In this paper I will attempt to contrast Astronomy and Astrology. Astronomy and Astrology are both sciences. They sound alike in pronunciation, and in some ways are similar in science, but overall, are different. Astronomy is a science that studies motion of bodies, evolution, composition, distance, and scattered matter in the universe. Astrology is a science that studies the things that happen on earth as they relate to specific positions of the sun, moon, and other planets. These sciences are similar in the fact that they both deal with studying celestial bodies in the universe. They are different in the purpose of the study.

In Astronomy, scientists study celestial bodies in an effort to make predictions on the path of stars, the moon, planets, comets, asteroids, and the sun. These predictions are important in the fact that, we can use that information to predict disaters, such as asteroids, or comets that may be on a collision course with earth. Also this information can be used to better understand the complexity of the universe that we live in. Historically, there have been scientists with many different ideas of how the universe worked. Originally it was thought that the earth was the center of the universe and that everything revolved around the earth. This theory of the universe has changed over time, and this is credited to the astronomers who worked diligently over time using new and improved tools of technology such as telescopes, to predict accurately, the way that our universe works. Animal Testing Essay

This is a example essay on Animal Testing:
The number of animals killed each year in the United States alone, varies from 17 million to 70 million animals. However, the Animal Welfare Act (ACA) states laboratories must report the number of animals used in experiments; yet mice, birds, and rats are not included in this figured. These animals are used in 80 to 90 percent of all animal testing. Therefore, it is impossible to have an accurate number of animals used in such experiments (PETA). (more…)

Essay on Neural Networks

Neural Networks mimic the pattern of human learning to solve many difficult tasks of data management and pattern recognition. By configuring virtual neural networks that function like the human brain, computers can perform tasks at greater speeds and with increased flexibility of application. These networks are capable of offering invaluable insights into the vast information stockpiles that are common today.

The human brain is constructed of a vast network of interconnected entities. These entities function together to enable us learn and to perform a diverse array of tasks. The neuron is responsible for this learning process and it is made up of three main parts the dendrites, the soma, and the axon. The dendrites form the input network that consists of branches, which connect to tens of thousands of other neurons. This interconnectedness is what determines our adaptability and creativity.
