Essay on Public Opinion

This is a free sample essay on Public Opinion:
Public opinion, which can be swayed by the manipulation of the media and to some degree by the President’s persuasion, greatly impacts the policies made by public officials. George Bush promised tax cuts if elected as President of the United States of America. He was able to convince the public that they should be able to spend their money rather than the government. According to the Gallup Poll of September 11-13, 2000 , 74% of the public was in favor of tax cuts. The media’s support of tax cuts was divided; therefore it was not as effective in swaying public opinion as when all media are united in their opinions. Even the Democratic leaders, who were generally against the tax cuts, were unable to prevent the tax cuts. This was due to Democratic leaders like Max Baucus, John Breaux, Blanche Lincoln, and Robert Torricelli who voted in favor of the tax cuts which was guided by the wishes of their constituents. War in Iraq Essay

This is a sample essay on War in Iraq:
The United States has been torn apart with the thought of war. There is the fear spread by the media about dirty bombs and mustard gas. There is the recommendation to have an air tight room in one’s house and to duck tape sheets of plastic on one’s windows. However, many do not understand how this safety advice is related to the Bush Administration’s international policy. How did the September 11th terrorist attack from Afghanistan become a War on Iraq? Is President Bush’s desire to fight a war on Iraq related to his father’s problems with Sadaam Hussein ten years ago? These and many other questions arise in the mind of the average American citizen. As with many other topics, Americans have various viewpoints concerning the War on Iraq; Some are pro-war and some are anti-war. (more…)

Monetary Policy Essay

Monetary policy is something everyone should know about. My teacher has an Uncle named Alan Greenspan that is directly involved with the U.S.’s use of monetary policy. When studied, people will learn that monetary policy is the policy used to fix interest rates and set those rates to stimulate the economy or to slow the economy down. In order to shed light on this subject, I have done research on the people that are in charge of setting the latest trends when it comes to using any type of monetary policy and that would be the Federal Reserve Bank or just the FED. The Federal Reserve Bank in San Francisco shared some information to aid in learning all about how monetary policy effects macroeconomics.

Okay, we have laid down the guidelines of what the paper is going to be about now, let’s see what the book will have to offer. The book used for this class written by the Great David C. Colander states on page 328 that Monetary Policy is a policy of influencing the economy through changes in the banking system’s reserves that influence the money supply and credit availability in the economy. Essay on Politics

Television has played a decisive role in politics in the past 50 years. Since the 1950′s television and American presidential politics have gone hand in hand. The power of television and its persuasive influence on the American political arena can be seen early in the 1950′s, yet its most historically profound era can be said to have started in the 1960′s. In 1960 John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Richard Milhouse Nixon met in the television arena for 4 political debates. Those events are considered a milestone in television political history due to the vast audiences who tuned in. According to Grolier.com, “More than 70 million Americans saw the first debate, and audiences greater than 50 million people witnessed the other three. Probably the greatest consequence of the debates was to assure voters that the relatively young and inexperienced Senator Kennedy was capable of being president” (Grolier, 2000). The persuasive power of television was from that time on seen as an indispensable tool in running a campaign and in keeping office. The effect of television on the voter populace is so great that candidates running for president rely heavily on media specialists to run campaigns in the form of image marketing and mass saturation of political advertisements.
