This is a sample essay on Corporate Hierarchy:
Since the dawn of the Gilded Age, corporations have had a great impact on the lives of many people. Corporations have centralized themselves into the American lifestyle and are portrayed as one of the most vital aspects to our first world “greatness”. Corporations have gained so much power during this century, that even sometimes, they can get away with anything, good or bad. Although corporations can yield their power for anything, it is their decision to make ethical or unfair alterations to their business. This distinguishes the classifications of a certain corporation. Two aspects of corporations have been formulated since the beginning of the Gilded Age. There are those who support capitalistic corporations and have disregard with government intervention and the concerns of blue-collared laborers. On the other hand, there are the fair, responsible corporations that support government intervention and responds to the concerns and issues of their workers. Both categories of corporations tend to do well in business and play a great part in economy. Although they are similarly successful in achieving their goal, which is to make profit, only one solution gives equal opportunity and establishes equilibrium in a corporation. Along with this, it would benefit everyone in a corporation if unions were formed and if laborers were business-literate in order to compromise with their founders.
A corporation is a strong, united establishment, mostly due to its foundation. Without the foundation of a corporation, there wouldn’t be a corporation. The foundation of a corporation would then be its blue-collared laborers. Employment has been the most debated issue on labor for some duration of time now. It is the required practice that corporations go through to stabilize production, but the two solutions of corporate business have different ways of achieving this. With different solutions, employment rates would then vary. Assume that capitalism was practiced in business nation-wide and was the basis of every corporation. Employment may decrease, due to the low standards corporations give their work force. With this in mind, it will then be easier to climb the corporate ladder, since employment rates are down. This will be similar to the age of robber barons once again and will support the phrase “the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer”. With employment rates plummeting, this will certainly push corporations to a drastic situation and force themselves to hire laborers from third world countries who would accept the low standard benefits. Thus, leading to the continuation of production. If responsible corporations were the basis of business, the out come may be similar, but the effects on its laborers are certainly different. Employment rates would rise, and there would be less quarrels between corporate leaders and unions. Although employment rates are high, it would be very difficult for someone to climb up the corporate ladder due to expenditures. Since employment is high, economy would be stable and corporations and their workers will all have living wages. Thus, leading to the continuation of production, and the end to exploitation of third world country laborers. Both solutions of business, capitalistic and responsible, were effective in accomplishing their intended goal, but it seems responsible corporations has a better solution for employment, economically and ethically.
Along with blue-collared workers, another foundation of a corporation is its product. The product is the sales of the company. And of course, the product is only as good as its maker. In capitalistic corporations, products would probably be poorly manufactured due to its laborers. Since laborers have unfair wages and have poor benefits, then the quality of the products being made would decrease, unless corporate leaders raise wages and raise the price of their goods. Another factor would be if exploitation was in act, then third world country laborers would manufacture products that they are not specialized to manufacture, which will drop the products quality. This would be an advantage for the company, for it will give them more profit for little service charge, while keeping the same sale price on the product. If government interference is enforced in corporations, product quality would increase, as an effect of better wages, and better benefits. As another benefit, corporations will reduce the exploitation of laborers from other countries. Even though government interference is ethical and fair, most corporations are looking forward to higher profits. So, capitalistic corporations would have better sales profit due to small service wages.
The heads of a corporation could care less about the people below them. Most corporations are only concerned for the benefits for sales, which makes up the company. Corporate leaders would disregard their laborers’ concerns in order to fulfill their profit-making goal. Capitalistic leaders would benefit greatly from their unfair business tactics, but it does nothing to improve our economy as a nation. During the Gilded Age, The robber barons accumulated over eighty-five percent of the nation’s wealth, while the rest of the nation got the rest of it. This was unfair to the working class and those who are even less fortunate than that. If government intervention was enforced, and responsible business was practiced, then there would be expenditures, which will somewhat put everyone on the same playing field. It would create economic stability, while providing everyone with wages and equal opportunity. If a dozen people controlled the nations economy, then there would be more than economic disaster.
Both solutions of business sound appealing, in that they have intelligent tactics to improve and stabilize their company, but responsible corporations overcomes capitalistic corporations. This is because responsible corporations are ethical, in a sense that they do not exploit their laborers, and because they are also good for the economy, no just for the business. Even though it is a stronger solution for business, the corporate leaders choose how they run their companies. The blue-collared workers also have a great voice in these types of decisions for they are the ones who are greatly affected by them.
